As we reach the end of Summer and move into the Autumn and Winter months ahead, we’ve been reflecting on the Summer which we have enjoyed here at The Cottage in the Wood. Things didn’t quite get off to the start that we had hoped, but from the moment that we re-opened our doors on the 10th July 2020, we have just had the most amazing Summer. That’s down to our fantastic guests and our wonderful team, and we want to say a massive thank you.
To celebrate Summer 2020, we have been looking back at some of our highlights, and we wanted to share those with you. If you’ve enjoyed a particularly lovely experience in the Malvern Hills this Summer, please share your highlights with us too.
Cocktail Saturdays
During our hibernation, and for the first few weeks of Summer, Xenie and Alar took to the big screen on Facebook and Instagram to share Cocktail recipes, and the history of the cocktails that you could make from home in our Cocktail Saturdays recipe. Most of which feature on our cocktail menu at the hotel!
Alar and Xenie are back in 1919 Restaurant and Bar now, but if you are looking for a tasty cocktail recipe to make from home, you can find the whole series still on our IGTV.
Re-opening weekend 10th July 2020
We re-opened our doors and welcomed you back from 10th July 2020. During hibernation, our owners stayed and lived in the hotel and they were just as pleased to move back home, as we were to be moving back to the hotel and getting everything ready again.
In the days leading up to the 10th July, the hotel was a flurry of activity. The front of house team were busy polishing glasses and cutlery. The Chef’s were sharpening their knives, and housekeeping were making sure that every room was to the highest standard once again. Not only this, but we had a whole new set of regulations and training in place to ensure that both our team and our guests were safe.
Reading your reviews
There are a few things at the heart of what we do at The Cottage in the Wood, but really everything that we do is to provide a fantastic and relaxing experience in the beautiful English Countryside. That’s why we love nothing better than seeing and reading your reviews when you stay or dine with us.
We’ve had some amazing feedback over this Summer, and enjoyed reading and responding to every single one. We can’t wait to hear about your experiences this Autumn and Winter!
Enjoying The Terrace and the view come rain or shine
For those of you who have followed our journey, you’ll know that we completed the final stage of our hotel refurbishment at the beginning of this year. We added an outdoor terrace to the front of the hotel, where drinks and food can be enjoyed all year round, with the roof back in the Summer and the lovely outdoor heaters on throughout Autumn and Winter. Not long after our completion, we took a compulsory period of hibernation to support the NHS and our nation, but we couldn’t wait to share The Terrace with you!
Seeing everyone outside enjoying the experience, come rain or shine, has been wonderful to watch.
Showcasing our brand new Coach House rooms
Along with the addition of the brand new terrace, all of the rooms in The Coach House were fully refurbished to bring the style and comfort of the main hotel into the Coach House, too. We were so excited to check our first guests into the rooms this Summer, and loved hearing your reaction and feedback to the changes we have made!
We’ve spotted more than a few of you outside enjoying the terraced rooms too, with a morning coffee, or a special welcome glass of bubbles!
We could go on, but for now these are our top highlights of Summer 2020. Thank you to all of our guests who stayed and dined with us over the months. We hope that you’ve had as much fun as we have!
