1919 Restaurant and Bar was completely refurbished in March 2017.
As part of a £2.5 million refurbishment programme the ground floor of The Main House at The Cottage in the Wood has been completed transformed. The redesign brings the interiors back to their Georgian glory, the project honours the property and the surrounding location’s history, including links with literary greats and good friends C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, and the composer Elgar.
The redesign of The Main House incorporates Georgian grey, stunning nature-themed aesthetics, classic modern chandeliers and mirrors to reflect the spectacular views over the Malvern Hills.
Elsewhere in The Main House, the design will create cosy, colourful and eclectic areas, with deep blue bookcases stacked with literary classics, design books and more. Georgian green walls will be adorned with old photographs of the local area, an image of Elgar and a contemporary painting of a traditional Malvern gas lamp by a local artist.
Interior design studio Nelson Design has been employed to redesign the entire property comprising of The Main House, with a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, bar and lounge and seven bedrooms, Beech Cottage with four bedrooms, and The Coach House with 19 bedrooms.
